The 2015 staging of the Jamaica Jazz and Blues festival is set for January 29-31 and promises an A+mazing line up. Headlining the event this year is global superstar and best selling female artiste, Mariah Carey. It will be Mariah’s debut performance in the Caribbean and the Jamaica Jazz & Blues festival is the perfect platform for her to make such debut. Mariah will perform of Friday night (January 30th). She stated “I’m thrilled to be performing in Jamaica for the first time ever”, says Mariah. “I can’t wait to connect with my Jamaican fans and I am really looking forward to spending some time “pon de island” as well!”
Walter Elmore, producer stated that “welcoming Mariah Carey to Jamaica’s shores is truly exciting and we are extremely pleased to announce this iconic star as our headline act for 2015. Her agreeing to perform on our stage is a testament to the quality of our production,” Elmore further stated that “we are the only festival in the Western Hemisphere to present Mariah Carey since her last tour in 2006.”
“We Belong Together”, second longest charting song in the history of Billboard Hot 100 (14 weeks). Mariah also holds the record for the first, 16 weeks, “One Sweet Day (duet with Boys II Men)”.
Other acts performing at #JaJazz 2015 are Washington based Reggae band, SOJA, R&B pioneer Charlie Wilson, Canadian Reggae fusion band MAGIC!, the Pointer Sisters, Peter Cetera, local acts Richie Stephens, Morgan Heritage among many others.
Lead singer of the band, Nasr stated that “I want everybody to join us on this MAGIC! adventure. It’s a stressful time out there, and people are struggling to find hope in balance. This music is meant to put you in a good mood. We want to bring people together to have a good time. It’s not about us. It’s about the music.We want you to be a part of that energy and a positive musical world.”
